I received a call about my 1 star review from Dr. Young's office, so I will leave our personal experience here. This was about 1 year and a half ago. My child had a tooth in pain and being new to Alaska we went to a well reviewed dental office, that then referred us here due to his age and the work needed. Even though he was in pain, we had to wait a considerable few weeks before they were actually able to fit us in for the work. Dr. Jackson was the one who was supposed to do the work. I have been told since he has left, but never verified this. He said they prefered not to have parents back in the room when I asked to accompany my child. 10 or so minutes go by when he returned saying my child was being uncooperative and that they would not be able to do the work. He said that I knew this was a big risk... He had first mentioned this being potentially a failure (1 in 5 he said) just that morning after we had arrived, paid and were prepping for the appointment with sedation meds. I felt confident as my children have always done fantastically for their dental work in their previous office. I was quite visibly shaken as we had waited a long while and my child was in pain, so I asked to come back to try and ease things just to fix the problem tooth. The dentist begrudgingly allowed this, but was SO rude huffing and being sarcastic. I found my child all strapped in and inverted (not our experience at other great pediatric offices). He calmed down quickly for me, yet the demeanor of the dentist continued to be awful. He numbed the area, but continued to show his annoyance, egging on my child with his behavior, while making me very uncomfortable as well. It seemed like he genuinely did not want to do the work, yet made my child waste an unecessary amount of time by putting him on his schedule and taking our payment. It was disrespectful and unacceptable treatment. He should not be treating children especially when he acted with no patience, as well as needing them to be physically and mentally unresponsive to do any work. I would like to not place blame on the entire office, but when I was initially distraught at the front desk, Dr. Young took notice and did not bother to address me or my concerns. To add to the poor service, we did not recieve a full refund for the visit as the desk attendant claimed we had to pay for my child "ingesting the medicine". Clearly we would not recommend this practice (and now willingly drive 5+ hours for our pediatric dental needs), thus my well earned 1 star review.

Absolutely love Dr. Young and his team! They are gentle, patient and kind. My little was nervous at first and ended up dancing her way out the door. Recommend to anyone with littles🙂

Staff were personable, friendly, accommodating and helpful. They made my child feel welcome and want to come back. Great service. We received lots of options for the care of my child with no pressure on what action we should take. Thanks Dr. Young and staff!

We took our one year old in for his first dental visit. The entire office staff and Dr Young were amazing. Everyone was so sweet and professional. We’re very glad to have found a good dentist here in Fairbanks.

Dr Young and his staff are amazing. Everyone is so caring and attentive to our children's needs. In emergency situations the staff is quick to ensure the patient is seen as soon as possible. Top notch dental clinic!

Generally the staff was well trained and helpful. There were a couple of downsides. The doctor was very rushed to get through patients as fast as possible; I understand this is how they make money, but it does rub me the wrong way. This is probably also why they don't use the most painless numbing techniques. Even with nitrous oxide my son could feel it. They did not allow the numbing gel enough time to work before beginning the injection . They also do not have available STA (single tooth anesthesia), aka a Wand, instead using a standard syringe even for top teeth where a nerve block is not needed. In my experience the combination of the proper use of numbing gel and STA results in painless injections, which can make or break a dental experience for a patient, especially a child. Anyone in pediatric dentistry should utilize whatever means necessary to eliminate pain, as that experience stays with a child their whole life.

Fully recommend! My son has been being seen here since he was a year and a half, had to get dental work done (surgery) and we are so happy with the work done! Very friendly staff and even have a game table in the waiting room!

So I booked appointments for my kids and the receptionist asked for my insurance and VERIFIED that they are in network. So then a week before my appointment I get a call saying my provider will be on vacation and they need to switch me. So I asked is the insurance info still in the system and would there be any issues. Verified everything was ok. So I get a call a month later saying oh so don’t mind the fact that I already paid $150, now you owe an additional $300 because you are out of network. I called my insurance and they stated they did in fact PAY THESE PEOPLE. So they lie, and double bill and I will never use or ever recommend them to anyone. People work hard for their money and if you say they are covered then it should be so. The practice in my opinion is dishonest and I would not use them.

Went to them for a couple years for both my kids because I thought they were the only dentist in town that would see kids and take our insurance. They would cancel appointments last minute all the time and we would have to reschedule for months out. Then when my daughter needed a filling they refused to let me be back with her even though they were sedating her and she has multiple health issues that make her at much higher risk for complications. The receptionist actually threatened me and said they would black list me when I called two days before her appointment to cancel because she was sick and running a fever and puking and then told me I was crazy and paranoid because i wanted to reschedule due to her illness and wanted to be in the back with her during the procedure... so glad we have different insurance and can go elsewhere
