Tulane Family Dentistry

Hate to say it but I feel like this needs to be said: if this place suggests any major work, I’d get a second opinion. I went here for a few years. I really liked my dental hygienist he was friendly and skilled, and same with the staff and the dentist who had been seeing me. However, the last time I went they put me on a new dentist and that person told me I had two molars cracked and needing to be drilled. Both of these molars already had root-canal surgery from years ago, and gold caps so I was surprised. They said the inner tooth stem was cracked on both and they needed to do over $3000 of work, uncovered by insurance. I got a bad feeling about it because of how I felt pressured to get this work scheduled very soon, like next week, and also they didn’t refer me to any specialist but just to do the work themselves. It took me over a year to get around to finding another dentist and get a second opinion. Turns out, after several detailed new x-rays to double and triple check, my gold-capped teeth are fine, the stems are not cracked. I do need other attention from specialists, which my new dentist referred me to someone for, but my molars are fine. If I had let Tulane Family Dentistry go ahead and drill them up, who knows, maybe they could have been actually damaged in the process, so I'm glad insurance didn't cover it and I didn't impulsively accept their diagnosis.

The staff was very professional and courteous. The Dr and her assistant kept me informed every step of the way. I felt comfortable all doing the procedure. They also help me to secure a financial plan.

Dr. Shelton is consistently upbeat and professional, and I believed allowing my child to receive services here was a no-brainer. First experience with "Dr. Lex" and my child went so well, I was excited (and relieved) to find a one-stop-shop for my and child's dental needs. During the second visit, however, I will say the male hygienist SHOULD not work with kids, because his demeanor is off-putting, and is borderline rude (this is the second instance I noticed his behavior directed at my child, and I had to nip it in the bud when I caught it the first time). The second visit with Dr. Lex was not nearly as good as the first. I found her raising her voice so much it sounded like a more controlled yell! My toddler was panicking, and I told her explaining the process to him would help to calm him, if she wanted him to comply. He's very smart, and allowing him to take part in the process would have lessened his anxiety, so it was definitely a missed opportunity for compassion. This left me feeling awful for him, but happy/relieved the procedure was over, and he was in better spirits. In addition to this particular visit, the costs for services have gotten exceedingly expensive, and being whisked away to an office to discuss prices like a car dealership, has now become a common occurrence. Disappointed, and despite my patronage for years, I think it's best I find another dental provider.

Omg!! I’m extremely grateful to have found a good Dentist office. I can not wait to recommend them to family and friends. Service was excellent and staff we’re all Great!! However, the waiting time was a little bit longer than I anticipated But who cares when you received Excellent service!!! I’ll definitely be back!!! Keep up the good work!!!

It's been my family dentistry now for the past 2 years! My experiences have been great. I love the staff they are personable and have met all my dentistry needs. I enjoy coming to see Dr. Will and staff. Im always greeted with smiling professional faces! They are very accommodating and empathetic to big babies like myself. I'm very intimidated by pain and tooth service, but Dr. Will has never let me down. I'm always nervous about nothing because he makes sure I'm very comfortable. I just love the friendly professionalism overall all. Thanks, Dr. Will, Ashley, Ms. B, and my personal favorite Yaz who keeps me together. Just overall, great staff and great denistry make a business like this thrive!

Tulane Family Dentistry is the most Family Friendly as well as a Welcoming to take care of all your past and present Dental matter! for sure I shall reference them to my family and friends 😍

I love this practice so much! It always feels like being around family every time I go. Everyone is so kind and supportive. From the front desk staff to the dentist! I saw Dr. Shelton and Timmy for all my visits and they are incredible. During my first visit, Dr. Shelton showed me my x-ray and explained what exactly he's look for in the imaging. He gave me detailed plans to prevent cavities and what to look out for in the future. I never felt pressured to do anything. I can't recommend them enough!! Great practice!

Dr. Shelton is very professional and great at what he does. I’m terrified of going to the dentist, but my experience here, from my examination/consult to him doing actual procedures, was so pleasant. He explained things very well and was quick and efficient. Even the staff was friendly and greeted you whether you’re coming in or going out. I love Tulane Family Dentistry!!!

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!! I’ve been a patient for years. The whole team is THE BOMB! Everyone is so friendly & always helpful. My daughter use to fear the dentist, Dr. Alexis & Dr. Shelton gained her trust. The best there is!!!! We love them.

I had a great experience at Tulane Family Dentistry today. I had little to no wait time, each team member I worked with was very tedious, friendly, and welcoming. They also were very accommodating to my schedule when planning future visits. Dr. Grows was patient and very detailed throughout our visit. My favorite dental office experience thus far!
