Went in for a routine cleaning. Two of the four staff I encountered were less than friendly. Was told I needed a deep cleaning, which is completely possible. Waited for someone to tell me how much and to schedule the appointment. No one showed up. Front desk was busy, other staff was missing. Requested an email for the cost so I could leave. No email or call. The entire visit just didn't go well overall.

Since my initial review 7 months ago...my experience has greatly improved. My hygienist still uses the machine for cleaning but does hand scaling as well which is the method I prefer. I've been back a couple of times and there was little to no waiting!!! The hygienist explains what she is doing and makes suggestions to improve my dental health. I have recommended her to several people and they are as happy as I am!!!

Our experience with this βbusinessβ was a couple years ago, but it bears comment nonetheless. My wife went in for a βnew patientβ exam and cleaning. She was gone from the waiting room for nearly three hours, and came away with a list of recommended work totaling over $12,000. Adding insult, they tried very hard to not clean her teeth, and when she insisted, did a cursory pass which took less than 15 minutes. We had just moved to the area, so I e-mailed the recommended work list to our old dentist, who suggested we run, not walk, away. We have moved from the area, and suffice it to say that none of the βproblemsβ they recommended expenditures on have been noted by subsequent dentists. Simply be aware.

As a new patient they offer no customer service and the appointment is not a priority to them leaving you there over 2 hours. If you have dental insurance you don't qualify for their advertised new patient specials. I had to pay my insurance deductible of $55 instead of $39 as posted on their website for xrays & cleaning. My insurance said I shouldn't of had to use my insurance but could do cash payment for their lower rate. When I tried to get a resolution from the office I was disregarded.

Too many problems to list... but here goes. First phone call: I need an appointment for my son to be evaluated for braces and if the doctor wants to pull teeth, then an estimate for that. PMD: Sure, how is tomorrow? The next day we show up. PMD: So what are you here for? Our orthodontist is only here 2 days a month. We can't do that today. We'll schedule him for a cleaning and xrays so the orthodontist knows what he's dealing with. So, we show up for our cleaning the next week. It's at 8:30. PMD: I don't think we're going to be able to do your cleaning today. Our tech called out (an hour and a half ago and you didn't call to reschedule appointments). After fuming for 15 minutes, they got him in then acted like "see how accommodating we can be". My son has 5 cavities that he needs filled before braces. I don't want this to be painless. I tell them specifically DO NOT USE THE TOPICAL NUMBING. The boy hates oral care, if it's painless he has no reason to change his habits. They did it anyway, AGAINST parental consent. The next side of his mouth is to be filled and we have an a.m. appointment and it's snowed. I call, get the answering service who says "No one has called to say they'll be closed. They'll be open." Are you sure? If they were going to be closed they would certainly let the answering service and the morning clients know, right. I mean, it snowed over night. They knew hours before if they would be closed. NOPE. So, the orthodonist is only in 2x per month. My son broke a bracket and we're heading out of town for a funeral. I call the Cottonwood Modern Dentistry, tell them he needs his tightening that he will miss next week (He's 3 of 5 weeks out and will be gone for a month), he broke a bracket and his wire is poking him. They say sure, they can get him in the day we are headed to the airport. I drive the extra hour to Cottonwood. The records haven't been transferred (this was requested Thursday and it's now Tuesday). They fix his bracket but won't tighten his braces. They fix his wire because they broke it. They tell me no other orthodontist will touch another's patient (Isn't this a joint practice, like doctors or surgeons cover each other's). Then the woman says "At least he's not uncomfortable anymore and his bracket is fixed." Hmmm. Not what I was thinking. 5 days later his same wire is broken. I schedule an orthodontist appt in PA who agrees that 3 weeks without a wire will set him back too far. I go to have the records faxed and PMD says, there's nothing to fax. The doctor DOESN'T ENTER TREATMENT NOTES. There's no plan, no wire size, no type of brackets. So, I'm a nurse. If we do anything, we have to chart what supplies we used and what size they were: sutures, catheters, etc. How is it that there are NO TREATMENT RECORDS? I asked the PA office if they kept treatment records, maybe orthodontics is different. Of course they have treatment plans. WTF is the matter with these people? Who do you report them to? First, to the good people of Prescott. STAY AWAY.

Dr. Brown is an awesome and caring dentist! He works really hard to get things right and puts his patients first. After having a very opposite experience w another dentist, I appreciate Dr. Brown even more. He is kind, easy to talk to and explains what he is doing every step. A dentist with a conscience, thanks Dr. Brown! :)
