Worst dental experience I’ve had. They charged me for $720 and I never had any procedure done.

This was my second go round at Aspen Dental. The first was amazing and no issues what so ever. This time around not so much.... I went in for a check on a cracked tooth, which the assistant was making me feel like I was not being heard. She set me up for an x-ray and I let her know I was pregnant and she asked first tri - I said yes but I know we need the x-ray, hoping for some medical advice, yes you should or you know we don't recommend it, lets wait (as she is the professional). She said it should be fine and pushed the button. I was very surprised there was no lead apron or anything. Then to the room where after assessment she was filing my tooth with a strip turns to chat with another assistant and cuts my lip. I had to grab her hand and take it out of my mouth. I know everyone has bad days, but this appointment was beyond terrible for me. I will not be going back to Aspen Dental.

I switched from Gentle Dental to Aspen back in April, or around that time, just to give them a try as my insurance does not provide many options. After the first initial exams, x-rays, etc... I was told I had to have a "deep cleaning" which involves cleaning under the gums and is done with novocaine and in two separate visits. Upon arrival to this appointment on June 16th 2021, I received a routine cleaning, no novocaine, and a topical solution applied with a syringe to prevent gingivitis, done all in about 20 minutes. Then I was charged $98.00 as a copay. Aspen claimed this was my cost for a "deep cleaning". When I called my insurance company they informed me I had gotten a fair deal because Aspen charged me what would have been a normal copay for such a procedure. What did not add up though, and puzzled the insurance rep., is that I did not, in fact, receive a deep cleaning. And the way it was billed (for four different quadrants) to insurance made no sense to them. When I asked Aspen why they were billing me $15.00 in Oct. and why the $98.00 copay was not acknowledged anywhere on the bill (nor was there any explanation as to what was done in the procedure that day), they did not have an answer. When I asked for a credit on the $98.00 already paid "Terra" said they'd look into it that day and call me back. I waited two days and no call came in, so I called again, waited again for "Amber" to call me back and she did not. I went in that day in person and asked for a credit which she refused, but said she would waive the recent $15 bill which she nor Terra had any explanation for-- but Amber still insisted I had received a deep cleaning on June 16, which was a blatant lie.
I switched back to Gentle Dental right after this deep cleaning fiasco and it took several calls and an in-person visit to the office to get them to send over my dental records. They were rude, acted superior and again never had any explanation or sense of accountability for their delays. It is as if these two women felt superior to me because of the color of my skin or my eyes... A kind of unspoken caste system, even unconscious, that justifies them in how they treated me, and I imagine others. I wonder how many other patients get overcharged and how many insurance companies as well, because it seemed to me they change the rules for charges/claims to both as they see fit. More people should ask the right questions and demand truthful answers so these abuses of power and privilege get exposed and stopped. This poor review is not so much about me being overcharged for a copay, it is about mistreating others and the abuse of power in our society. This abuse will continue to occur until more people get over the fear of speaking up when it's the right thing to do, and we all refuse to tolerate it.

If you could give negative stars. Cancelled my appointment 3 times. Only had 1 courtesy call. Seems to me they could care less if you need help. Would not recommend to the person I hate the most in this world.

This place was the best dentist office that I've ever been to. The staff was nice and fun to be around. I was laughing more during my exam than I have in a few days. They talked to me about what needed to be done in a very clinical manner that was easy to follow and there was no guilting me about my brushing habits like I often have problems with.
They were also so nice to me about my financial situation.
It was a great experience!

I always have a lot of anxiety when it comes to any sort of dental work but the people at Aspen were amazing and helped put me at ease. They were such a great mixture of professional and personable. I'll continue to go here for all my oral health care needs and highly recommend them!

This was my initial visit to Aspen Dental in Bend. Everybody there was really nice and you got the vibe that everybody got along well. That makes going to the dentist much more personable and relaxing. So far, nothing but positive feedback from me.
