I recently switched to Dr. Kooning after being with my old dental office for over 15 years. I was so happy with my treatment! I was kindly welcomed when I walked in. The hygienist I had was kind, gentle and he explained everything he was doing. Dr. Kooning took the time to explain my treatment plan and answer all the questions I had. I’m very happy with my new dentist and his staff!

UPDATE: I had a really poor experience with office manager, Risa. As mentioned below in my previous 5 star review, I really appreciate accurate insurance coverage information. The office had checked my insurance and told me a procedure was covered before I had it done, and I proceeded with the dental work. After the second time I had this procedure done (6 months later), Risa told me it had not been covered and charged me for both procedures. I was not informed it had not been covered before I proceeded to have it done a second time, which was frustrating. I made two healthcare/financial decisions for myself based on inaccurate information. Risa claimed they had only given me an "estimate", which was completely false. After going back and forth, she agreed to refund me for the procedures, which I had regrettably paid after feeling embarrassed when she confronted me about it in office. Later that week, she called to tell me that they would not be refunding me. She lied multiple times, saying she had to get approval for the refund and that she never agreed to refund me in the first place, even though she took down my current address to cut me a check and stated she'd call when it was in the mail. She said she only took my address to update it in the system since I had moved. In addition, she had agreed to refund me after making me consent to prior authorizations for all future work I have done with them, even routine cleanings (which I said fine, because I don't trust them to give me accurate billing information now anyway). What the heck?? I'm more upset with how this whole customer service situation was handled rather than the $. Risa denied my request to speak to Dr. Kooning or my hygienist. I've had a fine experience otherwise and feel bad for Dr. Kooning if he doesn't know this is how customer service situations are being handled. My family and I have chosen to go elsewhere.

Always a great experience at Kooning. I’m especially thankful for Guillermo, who is kind, patient, thorough, and careful every cleaning to make sure I’m comfortable. I also appreciate that the staff makes sure to check my insurance benefits before x-rays etc. without me even asking, so there are no surprises. Thanks, team!

Switched to Dr. Kooning after years with a different office- I love him! Very honest and gentle. He has not recommended any additional treatment that wasn’t necessary. Staff is great!

My phobia of dentistry is real. Dr Kooning and his assistant were the cure to my fears! He explained everything in detail. Made me comfortable with the dental plan. To top it off, I had a procedure without anxiety, pain, or concern. I even left with a smile. My plan takes several months to complete (yeah for implants!) and I’m looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Kooning family dentistry team. You do not have to live with broken teeth!

My family has been with Dr. Kooning Family Dentistry since the beginning of the practice. Even though we haven't lived in Lake Oswego the past 5 years we still go back because we love the service. The professionals at the clinic really care about their patients. From appointment setting to dental care the process is easy and friendly.
Yesterday was my 2x yearly cleaning and I also had x-rays done. Guillermo was professional and friendly. The whole staff was following state and CDC guidelines to the T. I felt safe through the whole visit.

This was literally the best dental experience of my life! From the moment I walked in the door, the entire staff was understanding and sensitive to my needs. I have severe anxiety stemming from past dental experiences, and the staff here went out of their way to help me work through that! Dr Kooning and his staff all worked quickly and efficiently, getting me in and out in possibly world record times. He explained what he wanted to do and why, in a way that was easy to understand. I wholeheartedly recommend this dentist office, and doubt I will ever use another dentist myself!!
