My 77-year old father was told by a dentist at another clinic to undergo a 9-month phased $3000 implant procedure for a damaged root canal tooth. The doctor at that clinic would only talk to me for 5 mins without giving other options. I was asked to sign documents to approve the implant procedure while my father was lying on the table. I instead came to see Dr. Relan for a second opinion. She managed to save the tooth with a large filling and screw insertion. She also patiently explained everything and scheduled our appointment at short notice. Highly recommended.

On a Saturday I woke up with extreme pain and swelling in my gums. I called around 11:30am and she scheduled me for 12:30pm that same day.
I didn’t realize then that Saturday’s are only open “by appointment,” and I got ahold of her while she happened to be in office for another emergency client.
She was efficient, professional, and I cannot say how thankful I am that she last-minute took the time out of her Saturday to help me out. I won’t be going to anyone else for my dental work from here on out!

Dr. Relan was hands down the BEST dentist I have ever had. I had an emergency where my veneer chipped off and she saw me the same day on a Saturday at 2! Dr. Relan goes above and beyond for her patients! She was definitely the MOST gentle dentist I have ever had as well and I would reccomend her to anyone!

Friendly. Thorough. Careful. Safe. Efficient. They explained everything that needed to be done in concise simple terms. My insurance only covered a quarter of what I needed so They worked out a plan with me to get it done, keeping in mind I was retired and on a limited income. I came home Clean and very pleased!

Everything from a few fillings to regular check-ups, the staff was always friendly and knowledgeable, Dr Chien similarly so. I left due to a move, but would otherwise still be a patient. I've been seeing Dr Chien for a few years, he is the best. Great bedside manner, and is very honest and explains everything clearly.
When I first moved here I saw another dentist that claimed I needed 9 fillings and was very rude. I switched to Dr Chien and he said I only needed one filling. Three years later, and I only got that one filling. So he is not like many other dentists that just try to bleed your insurance while causing you great pain.

Doctor and hygienist have great attitude, no complaint on this part.
However, my new dentist found adverse glue on my crown and FOUR cavities around left side molars in July 2021 while Bellevue family dentist say everything is fine March 2021 with full x ray.
You will feel happy here as doctor tells you things are fine. The doctor could not spot the problem? Or the doctor chose to not see the problem? I don’t know.

I was a loyal patient of Dr. Chien's for over 2 years and am only switching care because I moved over 60 miles away though I am still tempted to make the trip to his office just so I won't have to find another dentist as good as he is. The scheduling was always convenient, they were always accommodating when I was a few minutes late (I blame i405) and he was always very practical and explained the treatment plan and financial costs in a way that I could understand. He's a great dentist with great hygienists and employees. My only complaint is that he is not practicing in Olympia! Easily a 5 star dentist.
