I have been going to the office in Kihei on Maui for 3 years now and think they have a great staff and doctors. I recently needed a crown and worried because the doctor I had liked had left. Dr. Barba who was a new Doctor there was nice and did a good job.

I had a deep cleaning at the Kahului office yesterday. Heather is an excellent hygenist. She is very professional and did an excellent job cleaning my teeth. Heather is also very friendly and personable.

Was asked by the hygenist if I wanted x-rays. I replied no. Hygenist disappears and says the x-ray is part of the process and she would no be able to continue with the scheduled cleaning... per the Dr's order.
If the x-rays are standard procedure why did the hygienist even ask if I wanted them...odd. Oh, btw after talking with some of the Kaneohe locals, my conclusion was confirmed, they are a business versus a service and look for ways to profit at the expense of clients.The appointment was for a teeth cleaning...since you can't handle that, a million other places will. No skin off my teeth, just wasted time.

Kihei office. The dentist was very good, didn't push or shame. Didn't like that I arrived on time to an empty lobby. I watched the lobby fill and four people called before me. Once in the chair waited 35 mins. for the doctor to arrive. Time with doctor 13 mins. (not including time for the novocaine to kick in.) total time at office 85 mins.

Have always been taken care of very well at Family Dental. My recent visit i got very lucky and connected with the very best dentist yet that i have ever had, Dr Franz Schuller. He is a most kind, cheerful and caring person. Mahalo

Their orthodontics is very sub par especially considered to mainland U.S. standards.
Got adult braces in Hawaii and when I returned to the mainland they said that my teeth are worse off than before.
They also took way longer to do what they did to my teeth while I was in Hawaii. They said 2 years but I was going for almost 4 and they ended up not even finishing their own work.

There really are no words to describe how frustrating this place makes me feel. I would not recommend anyone to go here unless you want to be billed incorrectly, not be communicated with, or show up to appointments expecting to get a procedure done but finding out you took off of work for nothing. The management there is no help either, I sent numerous emails only to be ignored and when I call to speak with them, they don't return calls either. I am super disappointed in this place. They do not deserve a star at all, but I can't post this without giving it a rating.
