Great dental cleaning appointment. Shanice was amazing: friendly, attentive, professional, efficient, and clear. You recognize great service when they answer your questions before you ask them. The front desk staff was amazing too. COVID standards are seamless: just take a pre-cleaned clipboard/clean pen, take temperature at desk with forehead scanner, write temperature on form and complete the form. I'm always impressed with their service over the many years I've gone there. Thanks!

Where do i begin? First of all, i want to acknowledge the welcoming professionalism on the day of my appointment. Now, with the Covid19 crisis going on, the team were prepared with valid questions, mask requirements & temperature checks upon entering. I walked into a clean office with social distancing chair positions that honored people's health and space; and, the front office workers were friendly and accommodating...this was ONLY the start. They were prompt with my appointment, not waiting around a long time to be seen. The dental assistant escorted me to the dental room and proceeded to make me feel comfortable and at ease with the "not looked forward to" procedure (tooth extraction) ahead by explaining that this was done on a daily basis, the dentist was more than capable and i had nothing to worry about. Also, heard me out with any concerns i had or medical conditions prior before the dentist entered. They were both very personable and explained what was happening at each step, what to look out for and how to care for the wound afterwards. What impressed me the most was the smooth operation and how it all went so quickly and efficiently and could not believe it was over! I was very thankful to be recommended to this particular dentist who does his job with care and excellence! 5 Stars!

I was not satisfied with my experience. They are nice, but they were not very considerate of my time. I called with a specific request: I needed 1 veneer repaired/replaced, and ONLY if my insurance covered this. They said "it should cover it" and invited me in for a general visit on a day were the dentist that looks at veneers was not present, so they had me come again the following week. The dentist saw me and said I would need to schedule 2 other appointments, one for him to work on my tooth/veneer and another one a couple weeks later to install the veneer. 4 appointments? This could be done in 2! Worst part has yet to come: at this point they told me my insurance would not cover any of this, and, as I had specified multiple times to literally every single person I spoke to (from the secretary to the nurse to the specialist) I was NOT going to go ahead with it if insurance didn't cover me. So, after 2 visits and a total of 5 hours invested in this, I learned my insurance didn't cover and I stopped right there. I just wish they did their due diligence ahead of time instead of making me waste time and gas money driving around.

Joe is an amazing hygienist - request him.

It was very difficult to make an appointment. I had to cancel because of a family funeral and was told I had to wait a full year to get in. A few months later I received an email from the office, announcing a new dentist on their team, located downtown. I immediately called for an appointment and was told the deal wasn't closed with the new dentist, so I couldn't make that appointment - no more info given.

I had to wait an entire year to get my teeth cleaned.

During my visit I was told twice to sign an electronic pad with no explanation of what I was signing until I asked. The dentist didn't introduce herself or even identify herself as the dentist. She was sitting behind my exam chair, so I couldn't comfortably look at her and I had to ask who she was. I felt like a piece of paper shuffled from one desk to another.

The cleaning I had to have was longer and more expensive than usual... perhaps because I had to wait an entire year (I would have gone elsewhere, but this is the only place covered by my insurance).

The good news is that the hygienist, Joe, introduced himself, gave me thorough information, answered all of my questions and was pleasant and conscious of my comfort throughout the procedure.

I've been going here for 3 years and this is how it has always been, except for the very pleasant addition of Joe. There are a lot of nice people employed here, but the system itself doesn't work. It feels like a dental factory instead of a place to get dental care.

Very impressed! I was quite nervous to have a wisdom tooth extracted last week, but I felt more a ease after Dr. Abraham explained what was about to happen and gave me the info I needed. Dr. Abraham must be very skilled because the procedure was surprisingly quick. He and his staff were very attentive and friendly, and overall I am very happy with my entire experience at Hawaii Family Dental.

Lovely group of ladies make you feel very welcome and comfortable as soon as you walk through the front door. Dr. Dunn and all hygienists were very informative, friendly and professional.
Definitely recommend paying Bright Smiles a visit if you're looking for a dentist.

First time at this branch and it was a great experience. Had my wisdom removed here at the waterfront location. Dr. Abraham and his assistant was very informative of the procedure and everything went smoothly with the extraction. I was given a couple local anesthetic injections which seems painful but Dr. Abraham let the numbing cream sit for a while before giving the first round of shots which I did not feel a thing. Then he let those injections sit for awhile until the next round of shots, which was painless as well. Come time for the extraction all went well, they got it out, I felt zero pain, it was quick. After it was done, he had me stay a bit to monitor the bleeding. After reevaluating the bleeding I was ready to leave, Dr. Abraham gave detailed instructions of aftercare and scheduled a follow up appointment.

As a first-timer it was fantastic. I’ve had a few teeth pulled before coming here which were a bit traumatic with the painful injections and being awake for it all so I was a bit hesitant to do another one... but it wasn’t as close to the painless extraction that I received from Dr. Abraham and his assistant . Great people here! Thank you!

All the staff are very friendly and informative. They make me feel very safe about going to the dentist. Both hygienist that I have had have been thorough and gentle when cleaning my teeth. I also see the orthodontist, Dr Chaekal, who is doing an amazing job with my Invisalign and she is very friendly.

All are proficient in the tasks they are preforming. A nice healthy environment with air purification and of course ,well I was going to say beautiful aloha smile, all are wearing virus masks.. 5 Star

This was my third cleaning at HFD. The first was at the Bishop Street office. The hygienist and dentist were both excellent. For convenience of parking I switched to the Waterfront office for my next two visits. The second cleaning was not a nice experience. The hygienist (I think her name was Dawn, you seem to get someone different every time) was quite rough in her work and her "chair side" manner left a lot to be desired. She had the attitude that I needed to do better with my home care so she wouldn't have to work so hard. My mouth felt really worked over by the time it was finished. Whereas the first and third hygienist (each different people) were much more gentle in their touch and very complimentary. They encouraged me to "keep doing what you are doing because your teeth and gums look great." If I could schedule the last hygienist every time I would have given 5 stars, but she said she just fills in when they are shorthanded.
