Like most people, I dread going to the dentist. I always get bad news and the anxiety can be intense. Forest Family Dentistry knows that I feel this way and so they do everything to ease those negative feelings. From understanding dentists, to caring dental assistants and an incredible support staff, I've always had a good experience at Forest Family. I'd definitely recommend this dentist office.

I can definitely see why this place is rated 5 stars!! Relaxing atmosphere, updated technology (they 3D scan your teeth!!) really kind and likeable employees, and everyone who works there is good-looking. But that’s just a bonus. The YouTube on the ceiling helped distract and relax me from my cleaning. There are no bright fluorescent lights on the ceiling. Oldies playing gently in the background. This is the only dentistry I’ve been to that has me excited to go back! I totally recommend them.

Excellent service and dental advice! Great regular dental hygiene care. They were also able to see me first thing in the morning two days after Christmas for emergency dental appointment. Very competent staff.

A dentist that I knew as a neighbor in my condominium community discovered that the dental treatment plan that I had received as a disabled patient offered to help me out as long as I could get myself to Austin. I made multiple trips and she repaired more than we both expected. She didn’t charge me for her part of the bill. It may have seemed like a little thing to be concerned about but I never thought I would be in this position in my life. Having my dental work completed improved the way I felt about myself. If she didn’t know before, she surely knew when I saw the finished work how important it is to have the work done because I quietly cried.

I had my first appointment this evening with Dr. Bethell. My whole experience felt too good to be true. The office location/setting is really nice. It backs onto a park-like area in the middle of this set of businesses, which is lovely. The office itself is cool. It's open and clean and with fun wood benches/counters. The front-desk staff, the techs, and the doctor were all super nice and welcoming, with no negative attitude to be found. I trust the doctor's advice and am happy with my appointment and our communication. I will be very happy to continue being a patient in this practice if every visit is like today's.

FOLLOW UP COMMENTS - Since writing this review I received a call from founding dentist Dr. Robin Bethell because he was concerned about my experience at Forest Family Dentistry. We had a great conversation and he clarified many issues that I found helpful and which have prompted me to clarify some concerns I had expressed in my original review.
Firstly, he informed me that it was my insurance, not his office, that requires the more than necessary images. He too, expressed that the insurance requirements from my carrier are excessive and that really only a few images would be sufficient for his staff to properly access my needs.
As for my comment about contract labor, it turns out that the hygienist I had, has his own business as a contractor, who fills-in for dentists who need coverage for employees who take vacation. He was the only person who was a contracted hygienist and the staff member who would have cleaned my teeth was on vacation.
He seemed genuinely upset that I did not receive the service that i felt I deserved and was looking for ways to improve my experience based on my feedback. I really appreciated the frank conversation that we had.
He did let me know about a membership program that his office created that basically allows clients to avoid insurance and pay FFD office directly. There are four types of plans they offer. The idea that I can cancel my dental insurance, which frankly sucks, and pay the dentist directly for services the doctors deem necessary, makes better financial sense to me.
My wife and I transferred from a PPO coverage scenario to an HSA a couple years ago, so cancelling insurance and paying the doctor directly makes perfect sense.
After my convedrsation with Dr. Bethell, I feel much better about my experience with his company and about understanding my options as a consumer.
Original Review - The facility was clean and the staff was super friendly. They also provide a very clean cost analysis of what other issue I had and what insurance covered and what I would pay out of pocket, which was very helpful, , so those aspects of my visit get high marks.
What really turned me off is I felt like I was in a health insurance mill and that they were trying to get as much of a claim as they could. They literally took 15-20 hand held x-rays and a full 360 degree image which seemed excessive. I also got the up-sell (no hard sell) on whitening or any other cosmetic options I’d like.
I learned that the hygienist was contract labor, he was super nice, but felt like he had quotas to meet and when I left the office my teeth didn’t end up feeling clean in a major portion of my mouth which I didn’t feel until I had already left the office - he seemed rushed.
My visit left me feeling unsatisfied even though there were many things I like about the place and the staff was friendly.

This place is awesome. Dr. Bethel and staff are super professional yet very friendly.
After not going to the dentist in over four years, I was a bit nervous. Instead of gouging me or taking advantage, they carefully told me what I needed to have done and what could wait until later (I was watching my budget). I felt like they didn't tell me what to do, but instead educated me and then allowed me to make my own, informed decision.
The whole staff is professional, friendly, and awesome! I highly recommend Forest Family Dentistry!

They were excellent with our two year old even though he wasn’t in the mood to be at the dentist. They calmed him down and were extremely courteous and understanding. Thanks so much!
