Monarch Dental & Orthodontics

Today was my first visit here after a grueling 7 month disappointment at another dentist. I was totally impressed with my treatment from Dr Horner, and the assistant (wish I would have asked her name) and Kayla in the office. I now have hope that I can get my mouth fixed right. So far a wonderful staff who really seems to care!!

Appointment setting was horrible. No one was on the same page. We setup a payment plan and paid our down over the phone. Get there and they needed our card for payment and figured it was for payment plan. Nope she emptied our bank account with total amount because she had zero clue what she was doing. Surgery went well although after already having exam was told there was spots that needed to be checked which should have been found in first exam of mouth. We will not return to Monarch dental! Your just a number here not a patient. Dr. Porter in Azle will always have our business!

The dentist seems to be well trained and knowledgeable. As far as performance of duties, she did a good job. However, her bedside manner is extremely lacking, especially when dealing with children. When dealing with adults/parents, she tends to avoid providing a clear explanation regarding added procedures/products. Timeliness is a consistent problem, as every appointment we've scheduled, we had to wait over an hour just in the waiting room. Not to mention unnecessary additional time when we're finally pulled into the patient room. As a former medical professional, I'm aware that it's a common practice to overbook patients to maximize revenue. However, in my opinion, this is a very unethical practice as it trivializes the patient's time. My advice to staff is to improve their scheduling practices and time management, as no patient should ever have to wait over an hour in the waiting room until they are seen. We did mention this issue to staff in-person and their response was other than pleasant. We received a scowling face and were told to always show up on time "just in case the dentist wasn't overbooked or running behind". Very unprofessional and inconsiderate. I have concerns, as I have before with Monarch Dentistry, that their focus and practices are designed to maximize profit - instead of doing what is best for the patient. My advice for current/future patients is to ask questions and ensure an honest, understood explanation by the dentist of any "necessary" added products/ procedures BEFORE authorizing the charges. That said, this is a clean and modern office with well-maintained, clean equipment and up-to-date technology. Although questionable, the billing process is smooth and accepts most insurance plans.

They have the best staff, very professional and the follow up is top notch.
I know that going to the dentist is not pleasant for anyone but this team makes it the best. From the person who greats you to the Doctor, this office just flows with hospitality.

Love this office! I have been a current patient for a good three years and wanted to say if I have ever had to wait, it was because I knew someone before me needed more time with the doctor. Warm welcome feeling from the time you walk in until you leave and that's why I will stay a patient at this office!

I have been using Dr. Sandra Horner for several years now. She is absolutely wonderful! She is extremely gentle and goes the extra mile to keep me comfortable, informed, and calm. Over the years she has become more like family. Her staff is also amazing. Also, I learned a few tricks about flossing too. I’m looking forward to my next visit. Thank you for the great service. Absolutely fantastic staff with a very welcoming and positive environment. Going to the dentist isn’t a favorite for anyone I know; BUT, I would tell anyone I know that Monarch Dental makes it the BEST experience that is possible.

My first visit. Wait time to be called was quick I never waited for more than 10 minutes for my x-rays or to be seen by the dentist it appears that they have state-of-the-art equipment.

Don’t know what was going on today. Had the worst experience. I have been going here for a while and never had an issue before. Somehow my insurance was switched and I had to acknowledge it again and the office staff was very rude about it. I told them I did not feel comfortable to divulge personal info when it comes to my insurance in front of the whole building, there response was if I wanted something private I could call the insurance company again to take care of my situation. I also came to find out that my dentist no longer works at this location and also that the dental hygienist I always use is also o my there with a limited schedule. Things were switched abruptly without me being aware. I also found out I had two cavities and was never made aware of them even though I have been coming here for a while until yesterday. I am not so sure if this location can be trusted and don’t know what is really going on. Overall just bad experience and I hope no one else has to go through this. Seems like this office has some type of inner turmoil going on and some real issues that need to be addressed.

I wasn’t pleased with my visit! They seen my son but weren’t able to work on him because they are not licensed to work on him. Makes no sense to me you should of never made the appointment and charged my insurance if you were going to do an exam just to send us away for a referral. My wife use to work at monarch and said not to take him there and I should have listened to her. Overall not a bad place but with my job it’s hard to miss work so I just wish I would of never went.
