Aspen Dental tried to scam us. My husband went to Aspen Dental in Bemidji for a second opinion on a tooth. They did a complete exam and x-rays, which were not wanted. After that, they said they could not fix the tooth until they did a cleaning and they said after the exam that he had Periodontal Disease. This was NOT TRUE. He went back to this own dentist and they said he DID NOT have this or any gum disease problem. Aspen Dental wanted $1,088.00, to take care of this, when there was NOT a problem. We were being scammed. We were extremely disappointed as this.

Great at cleaning teeth but poor at submitting form so insurance will pay it. Even if you only have bottom teeth you pay for full upper and bottom cleaning. After 1 1/2 years it didn't get resolved. If you go there make sure they have a lisensed dentist not just tech or you will be paying out of pocket even if you are insured!

Initial visit to the Bemidji office was fine. I came in with severe tooth pain and filled out the paperwork, including insurance info. I was told very briefly what needed to be done and prescribed antibiotics until they could get me in to get the actual work done. Tried to ask about cost and financing, was told that the person I needed to speak to was unavailable and they would have them call me within the next few days. I never received a phone call, and when I called myself i was told I would need to come in person to talk to them, which was not possible for me at the time.
About a month later, I still had not been able to get the information I needed to make a follow up appointment. At this point, I received a bill in the mail on a friday requesting payment for the entire cost of the exam and xrays, which should be covered by my insurance. The bill stated it was due on Sunday, when the office was not even open for me to ask about it. That same weekend, I started to get severe pain in my teeth to the point i could not even eat or sleep. I called the office on Tuesday, because they do not answer the emergency 24 hour line they advertise on their website and it was a holiday weekend. I was told that I had "never given them my insurance info", which i had provided the day of my initial exam.
I spent the next 2 weeks in pain, causing me to fall behind on my school work. I called the office every day trying to get both the erroneous bill taken care of and get my insurance sorted out so i could get the work done. Neither ever happened, even though I provided my insurance info around 5 times to two different workers and explained the severity of the pain. I kept getting waved off and told "we need to confirm your insurance before we can do anything." There was even a point where one receptionist said they had contacted my insurance and the insurance had told them I did not have active benefits. A 5 minute call to my insurance later, I was told by the insurance company that they had never received an inquiry on my benefits from anyone. This was in January, with the initial exam in December. Eventually the pain stopped on its own for the most part and I eventually got the work done elsewhere. It is now almost August and the bill is still on my account, despite me being told that since I "didnt have insurance" I was eligible for their free exam and xrays, and that they would be putting a ticket in to have it taken off in May. I am not sure why it has taken them this long to determine i was eligible, when this was never mentioned to me in January when the receptionist informed me I did not have active benefits. Said bill has now been sent to a collections agency, so now I have Aspen to thank for ruining my credit because of their negligence.
Overly frustrated with the treatment I have received from this company. I will never step foot in another Aspen Dental, and would recommend going anywhere but here for treatment. I went elsewhere and not only was my insurance confirmed before I even started to get the exam done, but they were able to get me in within 48 hours to do all the work I had been trying to get done at Aspen for 7 months. The new company I visited also did not see the need to pull teeth that Aspen had told me needed to be removed.

I was really nervous about going to the dentist, I had been putting it off for years. I finally made an appointment and I’m so glad I did! The staff here are so friendly and the dentist and dental assistant were awesome!

From the moment I walked in the door they were very cordial and accommodating. All the staff that I have been contact with with very mannerable and treated patients with the utmost respect I was very impressed

Although I was encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early for my appointment, I waited for almost 45 minutes from my scheduled time to be called from the waiting room. Staff explained that they were operating on a "skeleton staff". While this might be an explanation, it is hardly an excuse.

The staff were all personable and courteous. Thorough exam was done. Everything was explained step-by-step and it was as comfortable of an experience as one can have when dealing with heavy mouth pain.

Worst dental experience I have ever had. Come in for fixing a cavity and leave with a 12,000 estimate. And no fixing of the original problem. Would never go back or recommend.
